We travelled on the msVeendam, a Holland 
America Line ship that's about 12 years old. It will finish its year in the Caribbean then go in for a major refurbish. It had beautiful art onboard (including the Italian BBQ that looks like a huge Easter egg), served tea every afternoon, had a huge library, and the entertainment was excellent!
As for the food, well it was delicious, plentiful, and just a wee bit too available... We had open seating which meant we could go for dinner in the lower dining room at any time and ask to be seated with others or at a table for 2. We really enjoyed this versatility!

We participated in many of the onboard activities, including a "Mixology 101" where we learned how to mix martinis, attended culinary art classes, and hammed it up "a la Elvis" during evening party time.
